SOLO MADS

SOLO MADS

The violin is truly a special instrument. You can play any style of music on it. You can bow it, pluck it, scratch it and even hit it. Mads has created a program that showcases the violin for what it is: One of the most versatile instruments in the world. Mads delves into everything from gypsy jazz to rock ’n’ roll and tango to fiddle music. Although he is solo, Mads is still able to perform a large repertoire of music. Using a loop station allows him to record by layering tracks in real time. With the help of effects pedals and innovative techniques, Mads is able to mix basslines, rhythms, harmonies and melodies to make songs come to life in a fresh way.

With the realities of COVID-19, doing this solo show, Mads has been able to perform many porch, driveway and cul-de-sac concerts, while he and the audience are able to socially distance. Mads can run both amp and effects pedals from battery power, creating a very nimble setup. The set list includes Ellington’s “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” Hendrix’s “Hey Joe,” Piazzolla’s “Libertango” Django Reinhardt’s “Minor Swing” and The Beatles’ “Blackbird.”
