Helping the next generation of musicians at Stanford Jazz Workshop

Written by Mads on August 21, 2015

I had the privilege of teaching at the Stanford Jazz Workshop once again alongside Julian Lage, Taylor Eigsti, Larry Grenadier, Joshua Redman and many other world class musicians.

It was wonderful to see the level and enthusiasm of the young musicians, and to see them improve during the course of the week. I especially enjoyed seeing the string players getting more comfortable improvising and feel like they belong with all the “scary” horn players.

Second week for me at Stanford was at the Suzuki Institute, where I taught about 150 kids mainly by ear how to play Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and “Mario Brothers”.
